Developmental Assessments
What is special about Kanoon Developmental Assessments/Examinations?
Why self-reliant, self-learning students and educated parents have been admiring our Developmental Assessments during these years? If these assessments were like other typical tests, students would have been eluding them, or feeling more stressed by taking them, as some psychologists and educational theorists were expecting. Students voluntarily take part in them every two weeks, even though they are held on weekends. On the contrary, typical exams are held during weekdays and students are obliged to take them. Moreover, students' results in our exams help them evaluate their learning skills and educational progress. In Developmental Assessments students learn through assessing themselves, as oppose to standard summative pass/fail tests. Our exams are formative, held regularly and consistently every two-weeks. We held twenty Developmental Examinations during each academic year and five within the summer holiday. While, conventional exams are summative and held in accumulative manner.
Typical Kanoon Exam Day: "Developmental Assessments"
Kanoon Developmental Assessment day is not just a matter of a ‘three hours’ test, held on weekends. Following timetable out lines the typical range of activities a Kanoon pupil, their Personal Tutor, parents, and Kanoon staff undertake. Kanoon Developmental Assessments/Examinations are designed based on the state curriculum, providing students with a single cohort Strategic Educational Road Map.

The Developmental Assessment day starts with closing the gates. Pupils receive four exam booklets and one survey sheet, with purpose of educational consultancy. First, Question-Booklet includes all disciplines, and the exam time depends on the students level, from two to three and half hours. Second, Answer-Booklet has the complete solutions in details. We suggest students read this booklet in evening, and archive their answers in their Self-Learning Portfolio. Third, Non-attendance Booklet includes a practicing exam for next two weeks. Fourth, Azmoon Magazine, which is a collection of educational articles, experiences of successful pupils, and other useful information for students, Personal Tutors, parents and teachers.
Afternoon: Post Exam
12:30
Personal Tutors check each students Personal Developmental Book. The students' Developmental Assessment result would be checked against their reading hours during previous two weeks. In a meeting students with help of their Personal Tutor set goals for the next Developmental Examination.
Evening: Learning by Assessment
The most important part of the Kanoon Developmental Examination day is the students' reflection on their assessment. Examination result helps them identify their weaknesses and strengths. Following they invent their own successful methods of learning.
