May 2014: Should Young Children Learn Coding?

FOr example, JIM TAYLOR believes that both schools and parents are missing several critical points. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Marissa Mayer didn’t become successful because they could write code, but rather because they were cogent, creative and innovative thinkers. Will early immersion with technology foster this kind of thinking? I doubt it.
Further, ED LAZOWSKA says that in the 21st century, every student should learn to program, for three reasons. Computational thinking is an essential capability for just about everyone. Programming is an incredibly useful skill.
